1. GIS Services - GIS is an acronym for Geographic Information Systems and is defined as;
GIS connects data to a map, integrating location data (where things are) with all types of descriptive information (what things are like there). This provides a foundation for mapping and analysis that is used in science and almost every industry. GIS helps users understand patterns, relationships, and geographic context. The benefits include improved communication, efficiency, management, and decision-making.
Kane County uses software from a vendor called ESRI to manage our Geographic Information Systems. We maintain and document data, create software applications and publish maps to faculte spatial decision making
2. Cadastral Maintenance –Cadastral is defined by the Webster Dictionary as;
Showing or recording property boundaries, subdivision lines, buildings, and related details. The cadastral system is the system that manages the geometry associated with parcels. Any time there is a change in geometry of a parcel, we are responsible for updating the parcel, and the surrounding parcels to accommodate the change. The geometry and accurate depiction of total parcel areas are one of the key components the Assessor’s office used to assess property value.
