With receipt of the 2020 Bank of America LEED for Cities and Communities Grant, Kane County proudly began its pursuit of LEED for Cities and Communities certification, along with gaining Silver Membership with the US Green Building Council (USGBC).
What is LEED for Cities and Communities?
LEED for Cities and Communities v4.1 the way communities are planned, developed, and operated in order to improve the quality of life of people around the world. The programs provide a framework for planning, designing, measuring, and managing the performance of social, economic, and environmental conditions on a community level, in a globally consistent way.
The framework provided by LEED for Cities and Communities credibly tracks progress toward overall sustainability objectives and allows for comparison by and among communities around the world.
For Kane County, LEED for Cities and Communities emphasizes the County's commitment to a sustainable, resilient, and equitable community. The monitoring and reporting platforms established during the process will continue to guide and promote accountability for ongoing sustainability activities.
