​​​​W2-1 Coordinate with municipalities to create and implement wate​rshed based plans that are actively used in development and design.

W2-2 Update the Stormwater Master Plans to incorporate projected increases in precipitation and extreme weather events and address the development/redevelopment of properties currently exempted from stormwater management requirements. Use future precipitation data from climate models for evaluation of designs. Plan should address individual wells and water quality issues developing as a result of increased chlorides.

W2-3 Develop green infrastructure implementation goals in-line with the Kane County Hazard Mi​tigation Plan and integrate with community's plans.  Seek funding opportunities through Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)’s Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) Grant Program.  Include a focus on equity in implementation.

W2-4 Explore adjustments to allowable floor to area ratios​ in zoning ordinances to increase community stormwater resilience and improve water quality.

Improving Kane County’s environmental, economic and social sustainability through improvements to its facilities and operations. Our department is a leader and role model in the area of energy conservation, energy efficiency, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and use of renewable resources within Kane County and throughout the region. We foster public awareness, education and support of sustainable practices through the development of livable communities.

Our Climate Action Implementation Plan is ready. Implementation plans are underway - stay tuned by joining the mailing list or better yet be a part of the action and become a member of our Climate Action Implementation Team​​.
