Charging Sta​​​tions​​​​​​

Kane County has installed three County operated electric vehicle (EV) charging stations for public use. All stations have ChargePoint Level 2 charging ports – meaning a faster charge for EVs.

If you own a public EV charging station it is highly recommended that you register your station with the Alternative Fuels Data Center to help EV drivers to locate your station.

Parking Regulations at EV Charging Stations:

A person may park only an electric vehicle in an electric vehicle charging station space designated for use by electric vehicles. Unauthorized use of EV-only parking by non-EVs at both public and private properties is prohibited.​

Charging Station Ordinance

28-1-2​​-1: LEVEL 1 AND LEVEL 2 CHARGING STATIONS:​​

Level 1 and level 2 charging stations are permitted in every zoning district, when accessory to the primary permitted use of said district. Charging stations located at single-family, multiple-family, and mobile home park dwellings shall be designated as private use only. Installation of level 2 charging stations shall be subject to building permit approval.
