General Guidelines
eWorks has a commercial scrap metal container at the Fabyan Parkway Recycling Center, which allows it to take certain metal items that should not go in curbside recycling carts.
Please note that eWorks does not pay residents for their scrap metal. All proceeds from scrap metal collected support the Recycling Center and eWorks' non-profit mission of providing job training opportunities to developmentally disabled individuals. There is a list of commercial scrap metal facilities in and near Kane County, which may buy scrap metal from the public,
here.
Here is an alphabetized list of common metal items that are accepted at the Fabyan Parkway Recycling Center for free. This list is not fully comprehensive - any item not on this list that is primarily made of metal is likely to be accepted. If you have questions about item acceptance, call 630-208-3841 or email recycle@kanecountyil.gov for assistance.
